FORGET BOULDER AND SAN DIEGO...SUNSHINE COAST IS IT!
If you thought these were the hot beds of triathlon and the place to base yourself , think again. The Sunshine Coast continues to attract world class triathletes to its region, with a mix of temperate climate, low traffic, varied terrain, picture postcard biking and strong squads. This summer the likes of Greg Bennett, Lothar Leder, Rebecca Preston, Kate Major, Justin and Belinda Granger, Andrew Johns just to name a few have all been quietly going about their business on the Sunshine Coast. It is likely that Cameron Brown and his posse will also prepare an Hawaii Ironman assault in 2006 from a winter base in Noosa.
But whatever you do don't tell everyone about or I wont be able to get a lane at the local pool!

YOU DONT GO TO GUNDY FOR THE WEATHER!
Goondoowindi was considered hot by even its rather warm standards this year, with run times down across the board and only 1 athlete running 1hr 20 or better for the 20km run course.
Might have had something to do with the strong headwind on the second half of the bike leg.
Nevertheless it still remains one of those legendary events that keeps athletes coming back year after year. Click for more |

LOOK WHO WAS IN ALLEZ SPORT RECENTLY!
Matt Hopper was recently visiting Allez Sport to pick up his new Xterra Vector 2 wetsuit.
Matt ran away from a huge field of over 1300 athletes at Caloundra triathlon on Sunday, completing his 4 km run in a tick over 12 minutes and leaving all others in his wake.
He heads to Race 3 of National Series this weekend in Hobart full of confidence.

Rebecca Preston was also in Allez Sport slipping into a Xterra Vector 2 of her own.
Although the water temperature was too hot to wear it at Goondoowindi later that week, she nevertheless did not need it, with a comprehensive victory amongst a strong women's field that included a number of 'internationals.'
Ironman Malaysia is the next target for Rebecca and things look positive for that assignment.

COACH CROFT RETURNS
THE START OF A NEW CHAPTER
Australian Ironman Coach of the year, and Triwolf member, Nick Croft made his return to Ironman Racing recently at the Ironman France in Nice.
"After 11 years on the sidelines the urge to compete again became too much. Time to practice what I preach!" Nick said.
Nick's story of overcoming personal challenges, including a battle with
ulcerative colitis which nearly claimed his life, to get back and compete in the sport that he loves is a great inspiration.
